IPL 2019 group matches have come to an end and a team has been able to reach the playoffs with only six wins to its name for the first time in the history of the IPL. The fact that only one win separates the lower five teams and the top-3 teams are separated by the net run-rate only shows that the competition was very close.
The IPL 2019 Eliminator will be played in Visakhapatnam between the Delhi Capitals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
This will be the first time the venue will be used in IPL 2019 and so hopefully we can expect some excellent batting conditions for this contest.
Delhi is the only team in the history of the IPL that has never won an IPL playoff match while the Sunrisers have been used for the last few years to reach IPL finals. Without some of their key players for this match, both the Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad are going to go.
Victorious will emerge the side that handles the pressure better.
Probably the team that wins the toss will want to bat first.
This is an important match and it’s always preferable to run on the board.
There is also a chance that as the match progresses, the pitch could take more turns.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
The IPL 2019 Eliminator will be played at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
On match day, clear skies and wet conditions are expected.
This is the first game played at the venue by IPL 2019 and we are hoping to see a good batting surface.
A few matches were played on very spinfriendly surfaces here in the past. However, the organizers would certainly have prepared a surface for a match of this significance that allows an exciting match to be played.
DC vs SRH FANTASY CRICKET TIPS
Delhi won quite comfortably his last group match against Rajasthan. It was played on a sharply turning track where Rishab Pant played a major inning to help guide his side towards victory.Fortunately for them, Visakhapatnam will play the eliminator, a venue that produces some of the country’s flatest batting conditions.
Throughout IPL 2019, the Delhi Capitals did well on good batting wickets and will also be happy to get a similar wicket for the Eliminator.
Players such as Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Colin Ingram, and Rishab Pant all like the ball that comes on to the bat. This year Dhawan was Delhi’s highest scorer, but he’s not the only batsman to have done well.
Iyer and Pant also played a major inning to give a lot of batting depth to the Delhi side. So far, Colin Ingram hasn’t had much impact and Prithvi Shaw has also struggled for consistency, but both are likely to get another chance in the 2019 IPL Eliminator.
Delhi was hit with an injury to Kagiso Rabada and at this stage of the tournament that could be very crucial. His substitute, Trent Boult, is also a world-class player, but the Indian Premier League has not had the same kind of success.
For the spinners, the pitch in Visakhapatnam also has something in it, so we definitely think that Amit Mishra and
Axar Patel will retain their place in the 11. Whether they want Chris Morris in the side or stick with Keemo Paul, Delhi will have to think.
Morris has more experience but wasn’t in good shape.
We think Chris Morris could make a comeback to the side for a big match like this one.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad lost to the Royal Challengers their previous match and still ended up making it into the playoffs.
The Sunrisers ended up winning just six out of their 14 matches showing just how much of a fight this IPL was for them.
Now, without David Warner and Jonny Bairstow’s services, it will be very hard to win against a strong Delhi side.
Of course, the Sunrisers just need to look back to last season when without these two players they reached the final of the tournament.
That was when Kane Williamson was in a peak form and it looks like Williamson is getting back to his best
with a 79* not out in the previous match.
The Sunrisers have a weak batting lineup that their overseas players have to hope for some runs.
Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson, and Mohammad Nabi all have
an important role to play in getting their side to have enough runs.
These three and Manish Pandey may pose a definite threat to the bowling attack in Delhi.
Vijay Shankar and Yusuf Pathan’s lack of runs is glaring but there are not enough options for the Sunrisers
to replace both of them.
Perhaps Deepak Hooda will get a chance instead of Pathan in this match, but Shankar will keep his place.
A good bowling core is formed by Khaleel Ahmed, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi.
Also, Basil Thampi was quite effective in giving a very balanced look to the attack. Overall, the Sunrisers are a dangerous side with a reliable attack on bowling but a shaky lineup of batting. They have an excellent chance of winning if they can get that part of their game in order.
DC vs SRH SQUADS
Predicted XI – Sunrisers Hyderabad
Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson (C), Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Mohammed Nabi, WriddhimanSaha(WK), Rashid Khan, Yusuf Pathan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed.
Predicted XI – Delhi Capitals
Prithvi Shaw, ShikharDhawan, Colin Ingram, ShreyasIyer (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Axar Patel, Keemo Paul, Sherfane Rutherford, Trent Boult, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma
In the past, these two teams fought each other 14 times. In 9 games, SRH has emerged victorious,
while the Delhi franchise has only won five times.
When these two met in the season earlier, they both won one game each.
The Delhi Capitals have won nine of their 14 matches this season and are in pretty good shape.
Because of their batting problems, the Sunrisers were a little more unpredictable. We believe that the experience of playing a greater number of
knockout matches and a better bowling attack gives the advantage to the Sunrisers.
Bet on the Sunrisers Hyderabad to win.
Wicketkeeper: Rishabh Pant has scored a fifty in the previous game and is in good shape. He bats down lower than Wriddhiman Saha, but his batting is much better, so we picked him up in the team.
Batsmen: There is no doubt in our minds that the Delhi top-order will decide match. In our side of the Dream11, we picked Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer. This gives us three in the Delhi side from the top-4.We also selected from the Sunrisers Manish Pandey, Martin Guptill, and Kane Williamson. We are well set for a high-scoring match with 6 out of the top-8 batsmen on our side.
All-rounders: We picked from this category Axar Patel and Vijay Shankar. Axar Patel is bowling pretty well and will definitely get four overs while Vijay Shankar might be useful if some early wickets are lost by the Sunrisers. Depending on the pitch report, we could replace him with a bowler.
Bowlers: In our team right now we’ve picked Basil Thampi, Rashid Khan, and Keemo Paul. Rashid Khan and Basil Thampi are certainly the starting points, but Keemo Paul can not say the same. He may need to review his selection later.
Captain and Vice-Captain: We have selected ShikharDhawan and Kane Williamson as our captain and vice-captain respectively for this match.
