In their previous match, the Sunrisers Hyderabad completed a massive victory over the Kings XI Punjab to keep alive in the race for an IPL 2019 playoff spot. Now, they’re going to travel to Mumbai and try to defeat the Mumbai Indians.
Probably everyone is still recovering from the excitement that Mumbai Indians played in the previous match. Hardik Pandya played on one of IPL 2019’s best innings, but in a cause that was lost. In order to ensure their place in the IPL playoffs, the Mumbai Indians need one more win.
In the IPL 2019 League standings, both teams are right next to each other. This year, the Sunrisers won six of their twelve matches while the Mumbai Indians won seven of their twelve matches. A loss here will not put an end to any team’s playoff hopes, but a win here will give it a huge boost.
The team that wins the toss will probably want to bat second. It can be quite difficult to defend scores at the Wankhede and most teams prefer to chase.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
In the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, MI vs SRH IPL 2019 will be played. The match day in Mumbai can be expected to be a pleasant day with temperatures around the late twenties and no chance of rain.
The Wankhede’s pitch has been great for batting all this year, and that’s also what we’re expecting for this match. The batsmen will like the ball coming on their bat as well as the bowlers on the surface can make use of the bounce. Overall, however, the conditions are tilted in favor of the batsmen and it takes a big score to bat first.
MI VS SRH SQUAD:
MI Predicted Playing XI: Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Barinder Sran , Rahul Chahar, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah
SRH Predicted Playing XI: Martin Guptill, Wriddhiman Sha(WK), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson(C), Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed and Sandeep Sharma
In their previous match, the Kolkata Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians but they were not disgraced from that encounter. In fact, Hardik Pandya has shown that in the last few months he has taken his batting to a completely different level. His batting form gives confidence to the Mumbai Indians that they have the depth in their side to overcome a failure of top order.
At the moment, the Mumbai Indians appear to be the best-balanced side of IPL 2019. With the ball as well, they have a very strong batting lineup and lots of options. In the last couple of matches, Mumbai has changed his playing 11 a little and should avoid overdoing that as we head to the playoffs.
A very strong batting lineup is formed by Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard and the Pandya brothers. Suryakumar Yadav struggled this year and Rohit didn’t have the best IPL season, but it’s still a batting lineup to be afraid.
It’s going to be very interesting to see how they perform against the Sunrisers whose bowling in the previous few matches has been doing very well.
To justify his place on the side, the pressure will be on Evin Lewis. The Wankhede’s excellent batting conditions provide Lewis with the best opportunity to pick up some runs and cement his place.
In the previous match, the bowling unit as a whole had a terrible time. The Kolkata Knight Riders have smashed them to all parts of the ground. At this level, Barinder Sran seemed to lack the quality needed and may be on the bench after a match.
The Mumbai Indians still have five compelling bowling options available to Bumrah, Malinga, Chahar, and the Pandya brothers.
For the Sunrisers, so much of this season has been about their openers. Jonny Bairstow and David Warner were by a huge margin the team’s most important players. First Bairstow and now David Warner left the national duty tournament. Can the Sunrisers cope with such a loss?
David Warner scored nearly 700 runs with eight fifty-plus scores in his 12 innings.
His replacement will probably be Martin Guptill, another great international opener, but somebody in India who doesn’t have a good record.
Guptill will fill some very big shoes and the first ball he faces will be under a lot of pressure. The best thing for him is to start in Mumbai as the pitch is best suited to his talents. Nevertheless, at an important stage in the tournament, a completely new opening partnership between Guptill and Saha is a big unknown to the Sunrisers. Another option is to send Kane Williamson to open the inning, but Guptill’s absence of middle-order options might tilt.
The Sunrisers added Mohammad Nabi in the previous match to their 11 play.
He has to take responsibility in the middle order together with Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, and Vijay Shankar.
There’s no one in good shape apart from Manish Pandey and this batting lineup doesn’t give us too much trust. David Warner covered up many faults in the batting of the Sunrisers and now that he’s gone, a skilled bowling attack by Mumbai Indians could expose their weaknesses.
In the previous couple of matches, the Sunrisers found a good bowling rhythm. We don’t think any changes will occur and we should see the same attack on Mumbai. With Mohammad Nabi and Abhishek Sharma as all-round options, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, and Rashid Khan will lead the way.
For both teams, this is an important match. The Mumbai Indians can finish in the top 2 if they win both of their remaining matches while the Sunrisers have an excellent chance of winning the playoffs.
Mumbai has the more settled lineup, although in top-order batting there are some problems. The Sunrisers just lost their best player and will be a much weaker team. To be able to win this match will be tough for the Sunrisers.
Bet on the Mumbai Indians to win.
