Mind games – Cricketers and their Coaches, Commentators….!

As all know, in any sport one plays, there is always a strategy. There are cunning methods involved. There is bound to be killer instinct to win. There is politics in games as well. One team or one member of the team will try to outsmart the other. It’s always a fight to do better and make the competitor believe he is inferior.

Thus, a very powerful tool is used by opponents in cricket as well it is called the mind games!!

Australians are the ones who are brilliant in that. Since the reliance cup win, they have not stopped from firing on all cylinders. They are the ones who are always at it. Be it on the field or of the field!! Always they start with media men.

The crazy interviews, trying to outdo the opponents etc.

Ian Chappel the great Aussies ex-cricketer is at its best. Also his brother Greg Chappel, Steve Waugh, Shane Warne, Brett Lee, Mitchell Starc, Glen McGrath, Ricky Ponting, the list is endless.

Brett Lee, used his famous one liner ‘The Chin Music’ to frighten the Indian Batsmen when the toured Down under for a series.

They targeted Virat Kohli, Shikar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and others as they were susceptible to the rising delivery. Virat mastered the art of pull shots and hooks, similar to a Dhoni and Tendlya. But, Raina failed.

Ian Chappel always tries to run down the visiting team Captains and the best openers, Middle order bats men. Using his column and interviews he tries to attack them psychologically and makes inroad in their brains. Some sort of fear psychosis he instills in their mind.

Same goes for Miandad of Pakistan. He used to make fun of Indian cricketers and also the other visiting teams. He once targeted DilipDoshi. The Indian spinner. After every delivery of his, ‘Miandad will irk him with a question: Where is your room in the hotel? The cricketers normally are put up in a 5-star hotel. After bowling two overs and in to the third, Dilip was angry, irritated and he stood there and asked “Why do you want to know?’ To this Miandad said …..Because, I want to hit a Sixer to your room’!!

Such are the intimidating games.

Cricket coaches are no less!! Be it Bob Woolmer, Ravi Shashtri,Mickey Arthur of Pakistan, Darren Lehman of Australia, the great Dave Whatmore of Teams such as Sri Lanka (he got them the  world cup), Bangladesh ( he made the a formidable tem) etc etc.

When it comes to Mind games, Steve Waugh is one up on every one. As soon as the tour is announced, be it Visitors coming to down under or they travel overseas, His columns, interviews will start attacking the minds of the not only the nation’s cricketers but also the cricket lovers.

Famous one liner: He is famous for the one liner in the semifinals of world cup match in 1999. When South Africa was playing Australia. Hershelle Gibbs dropped one catch of Steve Waugh and immediately Waugh quipped…” You just dropped the world cup mate..!! The microphones in the stumps registered the dialogue…There was pandemonium later, The Aussies under Steve Waugh lifted the world cup. Gibbs became the Media’s fav dart board. Insult after insult followed in all forms of media. Gibbs was definitely shattered with the after math of the situation.

This world cup it is no less. As the world cup first math starts on 30th of June, within a week we will hear a lot of wild accusations, non-meaningful darts, jokes on opponents, weirdest finger pointing, mockery of cricketers and their teams etc. one famous one is The South African team called ‘The CHUCKERS”! Still it stays.

Hi there! Do you know if they make any plugins to protect against hackers? I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve worked hard on. Any tips?
